Good News! The appointment with the pediatric allergy doctor was today. The actual test wasn’t much fun, but not horrible either (the hardest part was keeping him from scratching and rubbing his back…again, his flexibility and uncanny ability to wiggle and squrim into every imaginable position made this pretty challenging). No food allergies though. We tested for dairy, grains and a few oddballs, like bananas and stuff that dominates his diet, and everything came back fine. She ordered a blood test for Celiac to be done when he has his sedated hearing test, but so far it isn’t obvious dietary. Dh and I were joking that we might just have to make his diet a little less healthy…cut down on the fruit and fiber to get things firmed up a bit. The kid chooses fruit over cookies and whole grains over refined grains….a good thing, but we might have to find something that will slow things down a bit.
I can’t remember if I mentioned this, but the MRI came back normal. I am going to ask if the head size is typical after reading this new article in Time Magazine.
Something Zane taught us today
If you are going to implement a visual schedule, don’t put the whole day on the schedule. If you do, he will ask for breakfast (and want eggs, because that is what is on the card), immediatly followed by lunch (wanting a peanut butter sandwich on white with an apple, because that is what is on the card), immediatly followed by supper (I assume he wanted the meal depicted, but since he just had both breakfast and lunch, and a banana, fruit leather, and yogurt, I figured he was probably full), then want a bath, then bring you toys, and books, and take the cards with him and put them next to the matching object. (like the computer card next to the computer, the brush teeth card on the bathroom counter, ect).
After he goes to bed (I suspect the ‘bed’ card is in the middle of the mattress again since it isn’t on his schedule) I will gather up all the cards, put them out of his eyesight and reach, and try again tomorrow, only putting the next activity on the schedule. (or, if he doesn’t like the next activity, the one I need him to do followed by something he likes). This is sure interesting.
Awwww, that’s cute! I hope you get the schedule figured out.
