Puddle fun

It has rained here a lot the last few days and Zane is really liking playing in the puddles in front of our apartment.  The last pictures are photos that only CDers could understand.  lol. It is a firefly that was sent to me from an MDC Mama from the TP.  It is a pretty batik that I really love.  I had to work hard not to freak when he sat in the puddle.  lol.  I immediatly changed him and rinsed the dipe to keep it from staining.  (I am such a nerd)

This is one of my favorite pictures of him.  I love that you can see the reflection.

Went to the Y

Went to the Y and took the water aerobics class “Water Works”  The most difficult part was trying to figure out what to do since I couldn’t hear her very well and couldn’t see very well (left my glasses in the car to keep them from getting broken).  The class itself didn’t feel too taxing, but a lot of people around me commented that they didn’t even get their heart rate up…it was evidently a new teacher.  I think most of my workout was playing with Zane for an hour and then trying to get him dressed.

All my fears of leaving Zane in the drop off nursery were alleviated when he ran into the play area without so much as a glance back.  lol.  There was good positive energy in the room, so I didn’t have any reservations (well, no more than reasonable…I ALWAYS worry a little bit)  I actually had to pick him up to get him out of the play area to leave because he didn’t want to leave and had no idea what “let’s go swimming” meant.

I might not have as much problem next time getting him to leave next time since he LOVED swimming. (Heck, he loved the shower so much before that I had to convince him to leave to go to the pool) He had a blast when I would count 1-2-3, bouncing him on each count, then tossing him into the air and singing “Wheeeee” as he dropped into the water as I caught him.  If I stopped he would turn to me and go “1-2-3 wheee” or just “wheeee” to get me to do it again.  LOL.  It was so sweet and there was no way I wasn’t going to reward his attempt to talk!  Boy were my arms tired!

Afterwards, it took 30 minutes to get both of us undressed and redressed.  (Forget trying to wash or brush hair…we are just talking basic body coverage)  At least we were in a confined space.

First, some pictures of Zane.  He took the various colors of playdough that we got after Easter and smushed them all together then flattened it.  Then he proceeded to poke his crayons into it and then balanced the egg halves the playdough came in on top of the crayons.  Pretty cute.  He spent an hour doing variations of this.

Now, some knitting pictures.  The pictures of the two soakers (one toddler size shorts, the other a newborn size soaker) demonstrate  exactly how much yarn is in 2 skeins of LTK yarn.  See the peice of yarn…that was my “leftovers”.  (well, that and my gauge swatch)

These pictures demonstrate a feature I tried on the newborn soaker.  I made it so that before the umbilcal cord falls off, you can flip back a little flap and hold it back by stringing the tie through it.  When the cord falls off the little flap will button (with a soft crochet button) and you restring it through to keep it closed so it acts like a “normal” soaker.

Hangin’ by a thread here

AAAAAAAAAARRRRG!

I am SO touched out!  He woke up at 7:30 am…OMG!  I about lost my mind!  He then did gymnastic nursing for about 2 hours until I finally dragged my butt out of bed because I couldn’t take it any more.  He has asked to nurse every 20 minutes or so the entire flippin’ day…and he can’t just gently nurse today either…it is like an Olympic event or something.  I am SO tired.  I can not function on the repeated lack of sleep of the last week.  Why can’t he sleep 8-12 hours like most babies…why does he get up after 6 hours of sleep ready to take on the world!?!  I am never going to get a handle on my life if I can’t sleep!

It is also affecting dh.  The lack of sleep combined with the stress and the screaming, running, climbing, messes….typical toddler stuff of an extrememly high energy child is making him not want any more kids right now.  I know this will pass, but right now I could just cry on so many levels.

Dang…he is into something AGAIN…I hear pans crashing….gotta go.

Digging out

I have been sooo busy today.  I got really behind in housework (sat on my ass because I was depressed and listless) and worked to make a dent in it today.  Zach balanced the checkbook only to discover that if we don’t spend another dime, we will be short $300 for rent in July.  *sigh*  I am so tired of this!  He gets more money on the 7th, but they start eviction procedings on the 4th, so it will be fun. oh well.  Maybe I will find a way to get some money…find something to sell on ebay or get some charms sold.  Zach just really underestimated the cost of his books (he usually over estimates, so this was a shocker) and some bills were a lot more than we thought they would be.

I did finally order some poop holders.  Instead of coming out of the regular money, all my paypal will be zapped and some of our regular money.  (no new yarn *cry*)  I need to spend the money because I don’t have enough right now and we have been buying sposies to fill in the gaps…so I am going to spend the money anyway and this makes a lot more sense.  I wish I hadn’t promised my friend dipes because I can’t really afford them (and they can afford them even less), but somehow it will work itself out….God makes a way when there is no way.  I just have to listen to figure out what I need to do to make everything work out.  I was so set on ordering yarn and making some soakers to surprise a friend.  I even had an extra pair of eyes to scout out what she would like and I can’t do anything about it.

Zach started his regular session classes today and is geared up for the semester.  He is excited to finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.  He got a B on his presession class. which I thought was pretty good considering the time constraints and it being out of his field.  He was dissapointed, but I think he is fine with it…mostly glad it is done!

Actually, despite the money issues, I feel fairly good about life.  I am dragging myself out of my depression and making myself participate in life more again.  The positive comments on my smilies have really made my week…I felt competent at something again and it helped in other areas of my life.  I have a ways to go, but at least I am to the point I am able to fight my way back again.

smilies I just finished for MDC site.  There were a lot of mama’s requesting pumping smilies since they aren’t able to breastfeed and considering some of them are commited enough to pump for years on end, I thought their dedication certainly deserved recognition.  Not sure if you can tell what they are though (especially that first one).  lol

ok..that first one looks like she has terrets (sp?) or something.  lol

Zane yesterday

Dh forward this article to me.  It is about a place I use to work as a front desk clerk.  It was one of my favorite jobs I ever had….4 star hotel on the coast of La Jolla, CA (the beverly hills of  San Diego).  We got a lot of stars in there and the place had a history of an old hollywood get away.  A large portion of the clientele of the hotel (and the area) is rich, old snowbirds (people who come to the area for the mild winters) so I found humor in this article.  The place was a nightmare to drive in because of all the senior drivers and just plain flaky people combined with people who routinely crossed the street where ever they pleased without looking to see if anybody was coming.  If you can’t access the article, basically a 87 yo woman ran into the hotel front portico with her mercedes.  (quite a feat considering how the place is set up I gotta add)

  • I doubt that we can ever successfully impose values or attitudes or behaviors on our children – certainly not by threat, guilt, or punishment. But I do believe they can be induced through relationships where parents and children are growing together. Such relationships are, I believe, build on trust, example, talk, and caring. — Fred Rogers
