Cute Zane thing:

Zane and Zach were playing Nintendo 64 and Zora was playing
nearby.  She became interested in the plug-in lines where you
connect the console to the TV.  Zane, still trying to play the
game, gets agitated and says “No no no, Zora, it’s gonna break!” and
kept saying it, getting more wound up each time he said it until Zach
got to her to move her.  As the guys were working to get her
interested in something else, Zane, very matter-of-factly told Zora
“Zora, Don’t break it”.  Way to use your words my son!

Cute Zora thing:

She likes to share whatever I am
eating.  Her favorite thing to do lately is to feed me.  I
don’t mind her doing this when it goes directly from plate to mouth,
but when she runs out of food on the plate and takes whatever is in her
mouth and tries to feed me that, I object.  Last night, after
telling her I didn’t really want any more, she reached over and got her
doll and tried to feed her doll.  I asked her if her doll was
hungry and she looked up at me with the biggest grin.  My generous
little one.

In regular life, Zane is still fighting
some intenstinal bug and it is no fun at all.  He is in reasonable
spirits, but it seems like the universe is fighting my goal of working
on potty training this break.  lol.

My tummy is sooooo fulllll.   Our
‘tradition’ is to make cheese fondue on New Years Eve, then Black-eyed
pea soup (this year, bean and ham) of some kind on New Years Day.
Last night I didn’t get a chance to make the fondue so we had both
today.  It was so yummy!  I ate entirely too much though.

We went out yesterday (which is when we
discovered that Zane is NOT over the intestinal thing…ewww) to, once
again, try and find some tennis shoes that actually fit well
enough that my pinky toe does not fall asleep.  WW926WT_xlI
discovered there is a New Balance shoe store here in town and,
after some advice on the internet, decided to give it a try.  It
is one of the only companies that makes really wide shoes and about the
only place I have found that sells anything other than regular
and the next step wider,  which is why I have never tried on
some of the wider widths.  I found out that the reason my toe
always falls asleep isn’t so much because my foot is wide, it is
because I have such exceedingly high arches.  That
is contributing to my severe under-pronation (my foot doesn’t
strike neutral and then roll inward like normal, I land on the
outside edge and barely hit neutral, if at all.  I have to
remember to stand flat on my feet when I am barefoot because I
will find myself standing on the outside edges of my feet.)  The
extreme support and stability of Birkis is why it is one of the only
shoes that works for me.

So, I get in the store and keep trying on
shoes.  I end up in a size 9 4E in this oh so stylish walking
shoe.  FOUR E.  EEEEK!  No wonder my foot felt so
smushed up before.  I guess we will see if it is enough when I get
back on the treadmill in two weeks.  (when our financial aid money
comes in and we can renew our YMCA membership).
