Here is a picture of the one who doesn’t hold still and isn’t at the mercy of parents with a new camera.   This camera doesn’t have a 2 second delay between pressing the button and taking the picture so we actually are getting his face instead of the back of his head.  However, we haven’t quite figured out how to get a consistent non-blurry shot yet, so there aren’t tons of usable pictures yet.  (Zora just gives us a lot more chances to have some focused shots.  lol)

    What a gorgeous kid!

Children are really hard to photograph.  I went on a mission to try and figure out how to take better pics of my kids and found a few ideas that helped.  You could be having light issues and that’s why your photos are blurry.  You may have better luck taking pictures outside, barring that turn on all the lights in the room and open the shades.  Of course that’s hard to do when you want to get a picture of that really cute thing your child is doing and will likely stop doing 5 seconds from now.  Thus why kids are so hard to photograph.

So, if you haven’t already, try going outdoors, turn on as many lights as you can, and use the flash if you need to.  Are you using the auto setting on your camera?  If not, what manual settings are you using? Using a higher ISO (ie: 400 instead of 200) will capture movement with less blur BUT you will sacrifice picture quality and low light may be a problem.  The higher the shutter speed the less time the shutter is open – so there is less blur but less light gets in so there is less detail to the photo.

This site might be helpful, particularly lesson 2.  It really helped me figure out my manual settings.  Hope some of that helps!

You know, I don’t think I used the word “less” enough in my comment.  I less need a thesaurus and more need to read my comments with less speed so I will have less lame repetitive wording.  I hope you don’t think less of me for my less than really articulate comment.  ;)
