It was a heart attack.
The blockage broke down like this:
1 is 100% blocked, and that is the one that was causing the symptoms
2 are 90% blocked
1 is 70% blocked
1 is 60% blocked.
It is a miracle he didn’t have a much more massive heart attack than he did. He will be undergoing tests tomorrow and will have either a 4 or 5 way bypass on Friday.
The doctors who are caring for him are the same doctors that cared for my maternal grandma when she had her heart surgeries last year and they are very good.
They can’t believe he didn’t have severe pain, given the blockage. It speaks of his high pain tolerance. I suspect that he had pain, but attributed it to his lungs since he has a lifetime of severe asthma. (also probably why his pain tolerance is so high). His attitude is really great, and even the nurses are commenting on it. Everyone is predicting a really positive outcome with this whole situation.
My parents 41st anniversary was yesterday (technically, the day before yesterday since it is past midnight). I can only imagine how lonely tonight is for my mom.
Just seeing this this morning. Praying. He will feel so very good once the surgery is done. My grandfather had this done a few years ago. He was doing the sleeping in the recliner thing, didn’t realize how bad off he was etc…bam, heart attack. Bypass surgery and he said it was amazing to feel so good. Praying for the same here.
I hope everything goes well and he’s back on his feet again in no time. How scary!
I’m glad he’s getting good care. May he heal well and quickly.
I will lift him up in prayer! My dad had a triple by-pass at Christmas time almost 2 years ago. It was scary, but I certainly felt the prayers and the Lord’s hand upon him and his doctors. Thank God he was able to get to the hospital and that they found it quickly.
wow! my dad had a 5 way bypass about a week after Faith was born. She’s 7 now

If he’s got a good hospital, he should be fine. I have 3 uncles that had blockages similar to that, one uncle who’s had two bypass operations (seems the family makes an awful lot of cholesterol despite nutritional modifications). They’re all doing fine, years later. They can’t eat any of Grandma’s secret recipe cookies, but they’re good and still all working harvest.
It sure is scary though.
